According to SIP, the Double Gold medal corresponds to an outstanding
class of spirits which have been judged to be among the top
percentile of their given categories, and that justify strong
recommendations in quality.
This
year also marked the 11th year of competitions at the SIP Awards,
the only international spirit competition judged solely by unbiased
consumers in a blind taste test. The SIP Awards' excludes all
industry insiders, and maintains a gender ratio of almost 50%
women, compared to industry panels that average less than 18%
female judges. This refreshing model of evaluation provides
an honest stage for feedback and recognition, and also more
accurately reflects the gender breakdown of the American consumer.
