Winery
of the Week: Guglielmo - Santa Clara Valley
By FBWorld Team
The
Guglielmo family has a long tradition of winemaking.
For three generations now, they have been producing wines from
their Santa Clara Valley estate vineyards, as well as from other
premium wine-growing regions within California. Today, Guglielmo
Winery (gool-yell-mo) produces nearly 40,000 cases
annually. Here's what our tasting panel had to say about a few
of their current offerings:

A bouquet of bramble fruits, cherries, and vanilla greets
the senses. Flavors of blackberry, cherry, and pomegranate

A dark, concentrated Zin with good structure, it's nicely

A bouquet of bright red berries, baking spice, and vanilla
bean rises up from a glass. Notes of raspberries, strawberries,
and cranberries unfold into suggestions of minerals and
toasty vanilla on the palate. A drier, livelier red with
a food friendly acidity, it will hold its own against
any Sangiovese or Chianti in the same price range. 476
cases were made.
