Greek Yogurt Wars

wars-of the Greek yogurt culture variety-are being waged
at your local supermarket. Traditional yogurt is being
edged out by thicker, tarter, higher-protein Greek yogurt.
Over one-third of the yogurt on a typical grocery-store
shelf is now Greek. Varieties range from low-fat to fruit-on-the-bottom,
to tube yogurt for kids. Because shelf-space is limited,
customers have had to say goodbye to some of their favorite
traditional brands of yogurt, and more obscure flavors
(such as Stonyfield Farm's Whole Milk White Chocolate
Raspberry, and Strawberry Acai). Pudding cups, margarine,
and other products, with the misfortune of occupying shelf
space too near the yogurt, have also become scarcer.
