Winery of the Week: Brassfield Estate - Lake County, Ca

California's Lake County and the remote High Valley Appellation within it are not the most recognized wine regions in the state. But with Brassfield Estate wines being nurtured by renown consulting winemaker David Ramey, and supported by an unrelenting commitment to sustainable farming practices, they're slowly gaining more notoriety.

Thus, more and more wine lovers are realizing what gems (for under $25!) can be found

Fragrances of green apples, citrus fruits, pears, and minerals greet the senses. Crisp and lively, it will match nicely with your favorite white fish in a light brown butter sauce.

Aromatics of cherries, plums, and strawberries meld with traces of vanilla and sandalwood on the nose. With a sip, flavors of plum, black cherry, and raspberry combine with suggestions of earth, toasted almond, and cola. A welcoming acidity and plush tannins, make it a fine match for pork tenderloin.

Notes of blueberries, blackberries, and currants mingle with highlights of earth, vanilla, and oak on the nose. Flavors of blackberry, currant, and black cherry are accented by whispers of cedar, minerals, and vanilla on the palate. With ample dark fruit and rich tannins, open a bottle with beef or bean burritos.
