a history as vibrant as its flavor, cachaça
is no ordinary spirit. Known as the everyman's liquor,
cachaça is as integral to Brazilian culture as
Carnevale or Samba, as it's one of the most consumed alcohols
in Brazil (second only to beer). My client, Cachaça
51 is the most popular brands of cachaça
and sells 17 million cases in Brazil yearly. Here are
some lovely cocktail recipes to enjoy it in:
Brooklynite
Ingredients:
2 oz. Cachaça 51
4 dashes Angostura Bitters
.75 oz. Lime Juice
.75 oz. Honey Syrup
Procedures:
1. Pour all ingredients in a shaker.
2.
Add ice and shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
3.
Strain into a coupe (martini) glass.
4.
Garnish with a lime wedge.
Blueberry
Collins
Ingredients:
2 oz Cachaça 51
3/4 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
3/4 Simple Syrup (infused with hibiscus)
3 to 4 Blueberries
Procedures:
1. Add ingredients in a shaker tin and
shake with ice well.
2.
Pour over ice in a Collins glass and top with cold seltzer
water.
3.
Drop a few blueberries in the glass for garnish.
Fresh
Finish
Ingredients:
2 oz. Cachaça 51
.5 oz. Lime Juice
.5 oz. Simple Syrup
.75 oz. Carrot Juice
Ginger Beer
Procedures:
1. Pour Cachaça 51, juice and
syrup into shaker.
2.
Add ice, shake and strain into a collins glass with fresh
ice.
3.
Top with ginger beer.
4.
Garnish with a candied ginger.
