Tips for Stocking the Perfect Bar

To spend an entire day inWhether you are the ultimate host/hostess known for throwing the best soirees or someone who just enjoys making cocktails at home - it is essential to have a well-stocked bar with all the materials needed to spark your creativity!

* The Best Spirits- every great bar starts with great spirits, so build your core with the seven spirits that will be the base of your bar: rye, whiskey, gin, vodka, rum, sweet and dry vermouth and a bottle of bitters.

* Quintessential Bar Tools - A host is nothing without his or her tools, but make sure you don't go overboard! Start with a shaker, mixing glass, strainer and a jigger; you'll also need a stirring spoon and a paring knife. If you don't want to collect the pieces individually, you can also start with a Bar Tool Set complete with a bottle opener, jigger, long spade-end spoon, classic spring coil strainer, handy ice scoop and a modern-looking muddler.

* Solid Glassware - Stock your bar with some four-ounce glasses for sipping, short glasses for lowball cocktails, tall glasses for highball cocktails. And don't be afraid to mix and match-no one said all your glassware has to match!
