Winery of the Week: Maddalena Wines

The success of Maddalena Wines comes from the tenacity of The Riboli Family and their strong belief in crafting the finest artisan wines. Year after year, they deliver great value for money wines, crafted in a traditional style. Probably why The Riboli Family was awarded "American Winery of the Year" for 2018.

Review:
The nose weaves together elements of peaches and citrus fruit with floral and honeyed suggestions. With a sip, flavors of white peach, key lime, and candied apricot come together among nuances of honey and orange blossoms. There's a nice acidity to help lift the sweet character of this wine, making it rather pleasant. Fans of a sweeter style Riesling will enjoy this.

Review:
Aromatics of black cherries, boysenberries, and cassis play among notes of toasty oak, fresh herbs, and vanilla on the nose. Elements of cherry, blackberry, and currant take shape on the palate, alongside suggestions of toasty vanilla, dark chocolate, and herbs. Polished tannins, good fruit, and a dry finish make this a very solid Cab for it's price, especially if you're not a fan of fruit-bombs.

Review:
A bouquet of tropical fruit, citrus fruit, custard, and vanilla greets the senses. The palate offers flavors of lemon, mango, and pineapple that flow into expressions of butterscotch, oak, and orange peal. A fresh acidity is balanced by a nice richness; it's a solid buy for the price.
